DTMD are a young duo out of Prince George County, Maryland. Dunc is the producer and Toine is the emcee. The duo’s name has been inspired by another once popular hip hop duo, Long Island’s pride, EPMD. This time around it is Dunc and Toine Makin Dollaz rather than Eric and Parish who actually began makin their paper from rapping before Dunc and Toine were born. DTMD are closely associated with other acts on the currently healthy DMV hip hop scene. Acts such as Oddisee, Kev Brown, and yU. Dunc and Toine are bringing a fresh and youthful sound, but as their name indicates, they hold a strong level of respect for the hiphop pioneers that have come before them. Dunc’s rich and multi-layered beats are generally very smooth and laid back and Toine brings bright and intelligent lyrics and a technically impressive delivery to the table. The combination of the two creates an interesting and engaging sound. I am interested to see how their careers develop. After making appearances separately on other DMV artists records the duo came together to release their first EP ‘The Basics’ back in 2010. I haven’t heard this EP as of yet but I definitely need to check it out. This particular track is taken from DTMD’s first full length release ‘Makin Dollaz’ released in September of last year. The album has a nice overall sound and a few other stand out track’s including the joint ‘Raw’, which features guest verses from Godly MC and Kev Brown.
